Forecast Discussion

For Monday, the initial wintry mix will change back over to snow, some very heavy at times.

Snow will linger Monday night before eventually tapering off by early Tuesday.

There is potential for significant snow accumulations through Monday night time-frame.

Why I am thinking 3-6+ for the BLUE ZONE

This map above is for tomorrow.  Watch the BANDING of bright blue over the Central NJ and NYC area.  IF….  BIG IF..  This happens as shown here, we could see amounts over 6 inches.   Again, BIG IF..   These bands are almost impossible to forecast.   If this does happen, here is what our accumulations could look like in the map below.  See those pinks in Central NJ, that’s 6+.

Daily Planner- Monday

Monday
Snow, and sleet, becoming all snow.  Some snow will be very heavy especially under mesoscale banding which is possible from Central NJ into The Hudson Valley as show above.  Temperature falling below freezing.  Very dangerous driving conditions will exists.  Wind chill values around 25 degrees. North wind 11 to 14 mph.

Monday Night
Snow likely with a low around 28. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph.
